No need for hot pepper, an unnecessary evil- too many squirrel resistant feeders available on the market to use such a product. There is also a suet called Oregon Insect Suet that the squirrels will not eat, it does fairly well with our current temperatures. it's very high protein (made from the kidneys of the cow- no bargain for the cows). Also baffle your poles and make sure that you have a water source for your squirrels- they are mammals.
